The Last Night Of COMPRESSION?!?

Well, shit, gang: it looks like this Thursday may be the last ever weekly Compression. Eight years in the bay, but thanks to cantankerous club management and, frankly, a lack of heads willing to roll downtown to club TEMPLE, this is it. Maybe we'll do some one-offs, who knows. But if this were a TV sitcom, right now is when we would roll the montage of past clips, starting from the day the crew first met, through all the amazing music and drunken lunacy, up until our last night ever this week. And yes, the episode would end with us hugging and turning out the lights one final time, the camera lingering on the decks as we walked away . . .

BUT FUCK THE MELANCHOLY, Y'ALL, THIS WEEK ITS LUKEINO, THE HEIGHTS AND AXIOM MC

BADNB champs, REFLEX crew members and longtime friends of Compression LUKEINO and ED HEIGHTS have teamed up with Compression's own MC AX!OM to release THE BRIDGE Vol. 1 (www.liferecordingssf.com), a new DnB mixtape that will melt your face off! It's free on the night, so get rowdy and leave with a handful of quality DnB.

And trust: the last time LUKEINO and THE HEIGHTS were through, they blew Compression's minds with their spot-on mixing and truly excellent productions. Add AX!OM to the mix, and shit's sure to be extra hectic. Fuck! It's our last night, let's burn the place to the GROUND.

Support on the night from our old friend, DJ MUNK.
We ain't seen MUNK in a minute, but last time we did, he was rocking the smooth rollers like your mom rocks a mustache. Also part of the famed REFLEX crew, Munk is a fucking great guy and an even better DJ. Roll out early, start getting appropriately shitfaced, and groove to the butter funk of the one like MUNKLE.

As always, support on the night from COMPRESSION CREW, and second room by the DOWN LIKE THAT DJ's.
Doors open at 10pm, then at 3am close FOREVER.

HONEYBEAR LOVES YOU, but HONEYBEAR IS PISSED!

  1. Is it just me, or in that photo of Luke & Co. did Luke just smell a fart?

Both Ben and Ed are half-way smiling, so it could have been either of them that delt it.

    Smell the magic . .

  2. Lol! Seriously. It looks like he smelt some foul business.

But on the reals, so sad Temple had to treat us they way they did. It also does have to do with lesser heads showing up as well, but having the house nights with the gay ass term, I'm down" to get in when we have UK acts in the other room SERIOUSLY doesn't help either.

It's not over completely, we'll just find something even better in the future! Temple was cool for what it was, we just need to put this under our belts and chug along.

You guys ARE drum-n-bass, with out you whats going to happen. Don't let temple shut down our passion.
I'm gonna miss hanging out with you guys, but i don't think its over, cause these guys live and breath this shit.
It not the end but just a new beginning.
I'll see you all tonight and let burn the place down.

  7. Seriously... when I moved up here, y'all had first moved to The Cellar and it was my home away from home for a minute... You were always there for me on Thursdays when I wanted to get my rump-shakin' on, and you ALWAYS threw it down...

...PLEASE tell me you're shopping around for alternate venues/nights to keep doing weeklies. Hell... go back to Cellar... ANYTHING!!

I'm gonna be sad having to live without you, Compression... much love... respekt.

  8. i wrote to temple and asked them "what the fuck?!" i told them that compression is THE only consistent and reliable drum and bass i could fucking find in this city. i asked them, "now what?"
i post that question here to you, as well, "now what? : ("
can't you just find another venue?
i know lots of places that would let you guys spin.
    what's up?
    try real hard...
    please?: )
    in the meantime...
thanks for kicking my ass on the dance floor time and again...
    i had so much fun...
    i'm seriously bummed, though...
    peace.

  9. I know the great compression crew has moved around a bit...but is this really true. For now is compression down until new digs can be found?

If so, this is really messed up. You people work it like no body's business.

Please respond and let a fan of all eight years know...

  10. Anonymous, don't think the post could make it any more clear: COMPRESSION IS CLOSED.
