Hardcore Porn is back, now on FRIDAYS, and excited to set off the first monthly of many more to come. Bridging the gap between hipster cool and big bass craziness, Hardcore Porn is setting the new Lower Hater pace. Come get some, and peep fucking game with this month's bad-ass lineup:

Eli Glad is the young turk of the SF electro scene. Holding down residencies at Smut, Youngbloodz and Cassettes; he is a local favorite of fellow dj's and partygoers alike. Diversity and excitement--the man fucking brings it.

Evan Tenderlion may be a newcomer to the electro scene, but not new to making music. Prior to ‘dance’ production, Evan Atkinson, one half of the duo of the Tenderlions, used to make hip hop beats in high school. He has been quite busy as of late, playin parties around SF and creating a buzz in the process, and for good reason- the Tenderlions concoct some very solid music."

Aye~n has been a member of the San Francisco music scene for about a decade, earning his much deserved respect in the eyes of every SF DJ. From throwing Compression, the wildest DnB party in the city, to hosting the Americas room at the World of Drum and Bass WMC Miami every year, he has pulled together and played with some of the worlds greatest DJs. Whether it's his skilled mixing ability, his recent productions, or his upbeat bass-heavy track selection, people continue to come out and see Aye~ n destroy the dance floor.

Big Sounds may be the new DJ in town, but his talent says otherwise. Already with the BADNB love fest float set under his belt, Big Sounds has been and continues to bring these massive sounds as he gives you bassline after bassline. Deriving the name from his fathers record shop in Plainfield, NJ, in the 70s, Big Sounds carries on the legacy bringing the people great music, and a great party, whenever they're in need. When you hear the volume go up a few notches, get ready for a copious amount of Sound...and Porn.

The Colonel MC-- well you know. West Coast MC staple, nobody brings the fire like your boy. And with Compression on hiatus, he's about ready to explode. Come hear the new shit as Colonel gets down with two of the best DnB Dj's in America.

Calibre, DRS and Compression at Mighty!

YES, SAN FRANCISCO. Finally, the Don Returns!

Calibre is one of the most prolific and respected DNB producers in the world. He's the bad bwoy Irishman behind countless funk anthems including "Drop it Down", "Red Light", "Mistical Dub", and his latest smash, "Hustlin." Known for his unique subliminal sound that rolls with dubbed out bass, sultry soul, and an infectious groove, it's not surprising how many labels have put out his timeless music! Come celebrate the release of the critically acclaimed hit "Hustlin" with his first appearance in SF in almost 3 years. If you were there last time you should know that this is not to be missed. If you weren't there, recognize, this ain't no hardcore banger action, this is rolled out, deep bass FUNK.

With support from legendary UK MC DRS, 2 CENTS and SHARP from COMPRESSION CREW, LUKEINO from REFLEX CREW, RICHIE PANIC from BLOW UP and the rest of the BANANAS SQUAD, the STILL DOIN IT GANG, and more. Vocals on the night from the incomparable AUDIO ANGEL and the one like AX1OM MC!!

October 31: Aye~n and the Colonel at TWISTED HALLOWEEN

Friday, October 10, 2008

So, you ever been riding dirty, you drive right pass a cop, you poop your pants and wonder what if I get pulled over? Well, if you do, here are some quick tips. Know the law and empower yourself.

Officers can always ask you to identify yourself and you have to tell them who you are. They can ask you for ID and you need to produce ID, but other than that, you don't have to tell them shit. And you shouldn't. Now, for some hypos...

Hypo 1: you got some weed in the car...
Police can stop you when they have reasonable suspicion. This means if you violate any laws, like if you were on your cell phone, the police can stop you. If they do, they have the right to search the whole compartment of the car- this means the front seats, back seats, glove compartment, and center console. This means everything but the trunk. If they want to get into the trunk they need probable cause. So... keep your shit in the trunk! Safest place. And don't do nothing to give them an excuse to pull you over. If you're riding dirty, you're driving Miss Daisy. Get it? Put it in the trunk and drive like a saint. (And if you don't believe it, watch COPS. Everybody that gets busted got pulled over for a REASON, and that's why they're busted!!) Take your hat off, take your sunglasses off, get off the phone, put on your seatbelt. Think: MARINA.

Hypo 2: you have weed in the car, you didn't read this so you've stored it in the center console.
If the cops pull you over for a traffic violation they can search the whole compartment, they do not need a warrant! So, what do you do? if you are white, you are good. The officers probably will give you a ticket and let you go. But if you are not, then.. do not admit that you have anything, even if the cops say that if you tell them they will go easy on you. Either way, if the officers ask you to submit to a search say NO. They have the right to search anyways, but if you say NO then you will have something to fight about in court. You're probably not going to win, but at least you'll have something to fight. If they search and find the drugs, don't explain it it--don't say they belong to your room mate, or that you only smoke sometimes, just say you want to speak to an attorney! Nothing you say is going to help!! You're going to have to fight it out in court, so give them as little to work with as possible. And good luck!

Hypo 3: You're walking down the street, dirrrrty, and the cops approach you. You haven't done shit.
Officers can frisk of you for weapons. And if they during the frisk they feel something that feels like drugs they can pull that out. So always keep your weed in a cigarette pack or something that does not feel to the touch like drugs or a weapon.

Hypo 4: you had a little bit too much to drink at the club and now you have to drive home.
If you get pulled over and a DUI investigation begins.. (1) DO NOT tell the officer anything. Answer nothing affirmatively--don't lie, just refuse to answer. "I don't want to answer any questions without my attorney present." (2) You have to submit to a chemical test (blood or breath) by law or your license will be suspended for a year. This means you have to submit to a breath or blood test. But there are two types of breath tests given. One at the scene and one at the station. You do not have to submit to a breath test on the scene. They want to give you a breathalizer on the scene you do not have to submit, in fact, you should refuse this test. ALWAYS! There are no consequences for refusing it. Then you should tell the officers that you will submit to a blood test, never a breath test. Caveat: if you are under the influence of drugs, then submit to a breath test at the station (never ever submit to the breath test at the scene!)

Please remember, the police are NOT your friends. They may tell you that they will go easier if you cooperate. Do not believe this! Do not say anything!! People end up incriminating themselves and they don't even know it!! Always opt for your right to remain silent and always say you want an attorney. They have to stop all questioning when you say that!!

Compression wants you to get by, but recognize: this isn't legal advice, just some tips we came up with based on experience and a little bit of research! Don't ride dirty, but if you do, ride dirty and SMART. Good luck!

Compression Crew this Week in San Francisco

What a weekend. Hardcore Porn went off and was one of the best parties to hit Underground SF. Check out the pictures:

Hot lovin
The party

Check the rest of the pictures at Here

Yo, with the club still on hiatus, check out COMPRESSION CREW this week on Friday and Saturday at UNDERGROUND SF.

On Friday, 2 Cents (Aye~n and Mal) and the Colonel will be closing things out at BASSISM, Tommy Lexxus' monthly dedicated to dubsteb, drum and bass, and all things wobbly. It's a family affair, so stop by, get drunk for cheap, take advantage of the smoking chamber out back, and then GO NUTZ. It's been three weeks since the crew has played, so look for a shit ton of new tracks from Aye~n and Mal, and a pocketful of new rhymes from the Colonel. . .

Then, on Saturday, something new. The first party from Compression favorites, THE BEETS!, known appropriately as HARDCORE PORN.

This should be awesome. The first half of the night features pimps ELI GLAD (from Emily Betty's hot new night, YOUNGBLOODZ) and NEW YNGSTRZ (of Radboys fame), dropping that dirty dirty electro biznass. Then, once everyone is lubed up, the COMPRESSION CREW and THE BEETS! are joining forces for a 6x2 drum and bass fuckfest. You KNOW the BEEES! always pack the house with their YAHTZEE CREW, so look for a rowdy club filled with of stylish hotties and dubious freaks.

The Last Night Of COMPRESSION?!?

Well, shit, gang: it looks like this Thursday may be the last ever weekly Compression. Eight years in the bay, but thanks to cantankerous club management and, frankly, a lack of heads willing to roll downtown to club TEMPLE, this is it. Maybe we'll do some one-offs, who knows. But if this were a TV sitcom, right now is when we would roll the montage of past clips, starting from the day the crew first met, through all the amazing music and drunken lunacy, up until our last night ever this week. And yes, the episode would end with us hugging and turning out the lights one final time, the camera lingering on the decks as we walked away . . .

BADNB champs, REFLEX crew members and longtime friends of Compression LUKEINO and ED HEIGHTS have teamed up with Compression's own MC AX!OM to release THE BRIDGE Vol. 1 (, a new DnB mixtape that will melt your face off! It's free on the night, so get rowdy and leave with a handful of quality DnB.

And trust: the last time LUKEINO and THE HEIGHTS were through, they blew Compression's minds with their spot-on mixing and truly excellent productions. Add AX!OM to the mix, and shit's sure to be extra hectic. Fuck! It's our last night, let's burn the place to the GROUND.

Support on the night from our old friend, DJ MUNK.
We ain't seen MUNK in a minute, but last time we did, he was rocking the smooth rollers like your mom rocks a mustache. Also part of the famed REFLEX crew, Munk is a fucking great guy and an even better DJ. Roll out early, start getting appropriately shitfaced, and groove to the butter funk of the one like MUNKLE.

As always, support on the night from COMPRESSION CREW, and second room by the DOWN LIKE THAT DJ's.
Doors open at 10pm, then at 3am close FOREVER.

Summer of Madness: 4Real, the Beets!! and MC Zezo

This week we welcome two of the City's finest, 4Real and the Beets!!

When you were still a wee baby, sucking on yer mama's massive teat, 4Real was already mixing records. From Throb records in 1996 to Breakbeat Science in 1999, from motherfucking Eklektik to Groundscore, 4Real has been part of the San Francisco DnB scene, always rocking the casbah with his broad mix of moody stompers and straight-up rollers. We last saw him killing it on the Groundscore stage at the Haight Street fair, but as he told us then, that was just a warm-up to the MURDER he plans to release at Compression on Thursday. Sack up, City! They call him 4Real cause he's the TRUTH.

MEANWHILE, at the other end of the spectrum, it's the city's newest badboys, THE MOTHERFUCKING BEETS!!!

One word: YAHTZEE!! Old-school Compression heads and new-school SFDNB BADASSES, the Beets!! rock out with a Compression flair, mixing quick and dropping bombs. Last time they played, they rolled through with the massive Yahtzee Crew, looking cool and getting the dancefloor rowdy as FUCK. They got the records, they got the techniques, they got the chicks, and they got the fat ass joints!! Beets!! in the house, baby, it's gonna be SICK!

And on the mic, Colonel's brother from another mother, MC ZEZO

Repping New York, Los Angles, and Miami, MC Zezo is an old skool MC with nu school flavor. Maybe you saw him at the World of DnB in Miami, maybe you've caught him at I Love LA, maybe you saw him killing it with 4Real and Colonel at the Haight Street Fair--whatever the case, you know Zezo brings HEAT with a ragga-flavor. Colonel rates him BIG (and has been working on getting him and his cousin MC Dino to do a DnB remake of the Three Amigos' "Buttercup"), and Compression is always stoked to see him through. Zezo's relocated SF now, so expect to see him at Compression (and elsewhere) on the regular. With Zezo in town, LA's loss is our rowdy gain!

Support on the night from our own DJ MAL and the rest of the Compression crew.

Drink specials all night; FREE to get in the door; 21+.
SECOND ROOM BY DOWN LIKE THAT DJ'S, with M3, Jeno and the gang.

Telly says: I fucked your mama!

Summer of Madness: SS and TALI

IT'S THE BIG ONE, MOTHAFUCKAS!! Representing Formation and the World of Drum and Bass: DJ SS and MC TALI

What else is there to say about the one like SS? Head of Formation records, producer of legendary tracks like LIGHTER, ringleader of the World of Drum and Bass tour: SS is one of THE primary moving forces in Drum and Bass as we know it. He's also Professor Emeritus of Compression and has absolutely TORN the club to the GROUND everytime he's played.

SS has said Compression is one of his very favorite places to play in the world, and that Compression heads are amongst the nuttiest (and, likely, the drunkest). Get ready as the fucking DON, the fucking DUKE of DnB returns to wreck shop!!

At his side on this very special night is quite likely the world's greatest female MC, TALI. You might know her from the Lyric on her Lip, or from her work with Krust and Die as part of I, Kamanchi, or from her work touring with Roni Size, or maybe from her amazing performance (alongside SS) at the World of DnB, San Francisco last year. But even if you don't, TRUST, she's an amazing MC, full of lyrics, song, and great, soulful vibes. We're stoked to have her in the house, so roll out and see how a professional do!!

Support on the night from Compression Residents 2Cents and the Colonel MC.

Doors open at 10pm; $5 before 11.
Drink specials all night long
Second room with DOWN LIKE THAT DJ'S, featuring house, electro, and other less crazy beats.

Summer of Badness: Craggz & Parallel Forces

Last week was our biggest yet at TEMPLE. More beer got drank, more fists got thrown up, and more people rocked the dancefloor than ever. DJs SHARP, MAL, IVRY, AYE~N and guest DJ GENOME firebombed the motherfucking house, while MCs COLONEL, AX!OM and special guest ZEZO had the crowd shouting along. WHAT COULD BE ROWDIER?

After taking time out for cheese and wine tasting, intergalactic travel and self-discovery, Craggz and Parallel Forces are back! Having fulfilled their album commitment to Valve and releasing the critically acclaimed "Northern Soul" album, the lads have decided to spread the joy and pen some original offerings for some other great labels. Over the next few months they have releases lined up on Critical, CIA, and their own label, Product Recordings.

Be sure to check their myspace for information on their bio and upcoming tracks, but trust us: C&PF ain't no usual COMPRESSION guest, and don't drop only that usual COMPRESSION sound. These guys will smooth it out, build it up , take it deep and bounce it around. If you don't know what we're talking about, check out their brand-new mix for PYRO RADIO or peep their KNOWLEDGE mix from last year with MC Deeism. Both mixes showcase C&PF's diversity, skill, and excellent sense of flow. Expect sheer D&B freshness when these dudes blow up the spot this Thursday.

Support on the night by COMPRESSION CREW's resident technicians IVRY, SHARP, and THE COLONEL.

IVRY and SHARP were on FIRE last week, people, and we anticipate even more heat from them this week when they open for C&PF. Also, Look for THE COLONEL to rip it on the mic like always, this week with special help from MC ASTRO.

Reppin the dirty dirty (well, Texas--is that the dusty dusty?), ASTRO is a serious contender for best new USDNBMC. He's lit up COMPRESSION before, and we're happy to welcome back ASTRO's fresh blend of hip-hop realism and DnB musicianship. He's a pro, maaaaaan, and will be rocking in the TEMPLE this week!

In the second room, take a break from the D&B and get sexy with the DOWN LIKE THIS DJ'S . . .

$5 after 10pm; drink specials all night long.

Summer of Madness: BLADDER BUSTERS

Hoooooly shit, gang, it's time again for COMPRESSION's famed BLADDER BUSTERS!. All the free beer you can drink till somebody pees!!

Here's how it works: it's $10 at the door, or $5 if you bring one can of food for our homeless charity drive. Once inside, the drinking begins promptly at 9PM. You can drink as much beer as you can stand until somebody tinkles.

Yes, we will have a monitor on the bathroom, and no, you can't leave and come back and keep drinking. But for as long as you're there, and as long as the water in the toliet stays clear, the beers keep flowing. One hour? Two hours? Only time--and the size of our bladders--will tell.

But what if I don't show up until 9:30? Better drink double fast, then, bro, cause other fools are 30 minutes ahead of you.

What if I can keep drinking, but some jerk is headed towards the pisser? That, my friend, is why the lord invented peer pressure and/or shame.

What if I wear some fancy penis harness that allows me to pee into a bag in my sock? Jesus, man, slow it down, it's just free beer.

Remember: there ain't no work Friday and nothing to do except sit around in the sun and get drunk again, so Thursday night it's going to be on. COMPRESSION STYLES, BABY!

And while we get hammered into obivion, enjoy the thumping sounds of COMPRESSION CREW, featuring IVRY, SHARP, MAL, AYE~N, COLONEL and our newest resident, the mighty mighty MC AX!OM

There's hardly a crew in the Bay Area where AX!OM isn't a resident, so it's high time he joined forces with COMPRESSION CREW, too. Known for his insane variety of rhyming styles and his musician's delivery, AX!OM always "keeps it lively" in the dance without ever overpowering the funk. From his energy to his flow, Ax!om rocks shit the fuck out, and is a fantastic new addition to the COMPRESSION family. Big ups, Ben, it's high fucking time!!

$10, or $5 with a can of food.

Summer of Madness: Compression Crew CD Giveaway with Ivry, Sharp, Mal and Aye~n

This week COMPRESSION CREW is saying thank you to all the headz by giving away not one but FOUR different CD's, one for each DJ in the crew. At the same time, it's a fucking Monster Mash on the decks, with all four DJ's tearing down the TEMPLE walls. WHO'S IT GONNA BE?

Spaceman knows how to shred the decks in every direction, sparks and smoke pouring forth as he works his technical magic. You never know what IVRY's going to play--D&B, dubstep, hip-hop--but you can be sure he's going to play it proper. Apprehension mounts as the man gets ready to unleash his solo!

Watch how the Catman do: smooth and rumbling, bouncing but funky. In years past, Sharp produced one of the all-time great D&B mixtapes ("Don't fake the funk, Pt. 2"), a mixtape that you could listen to in the afternoon at the beach or at three in the morning, partying balls. The Compression Army is lining up to see what he's got this time.

DJ Mal

Starchild was made for loving you baby, and Mal's gonna fuck that earhole till it hurts! A bouncing toranado on the decks, Mal is the crew's showoff, and showoff he will. If you witnessed his B2B Session mix last year, you know Mal's mixes RIP IT, both on CD and in person. Ready!

DJ Aye~n

What's left to say about the Demon? From spitting fire to dropping bombs, he only ever brings the heat. And if you know his most recent mix ("Tried to Give a Damn, couldn't give a shit"), you know he fucking crushes it. He's so good it's scary.

As always, it's free before 11; $5 after.
Drink specials all night.
NEW second room by the DOWN LIKE THIS DJ's, featuring slamming electro, breaks, and other music that's dressed to kill . . .

Summer of Madness: Bachelors of Science, Audio Angel, Sharp, Fife, Ax!om

This week is special down at Compression, as we welcome drum and bass superstars BACHELORS OF SCIENCE and celebrate the release of their new track, HORIZONS.

In case you've been on glue for the last year, the BACHELORS OF SCIENCE are Phil 'Rene' Collis and Chris Doe. Hailing from San Francisco, California, the Bachelors of Science have already become firm fixtures in the global dnb scene with their unique sound ranging from liquid flavors to dancefloor beats, with tracks smashing into top record boxes with the likes of Brian Gee, Bailey, LTJ Bukem, Grooverider, High Contrast, Doc Scott, Flight, Alix Perez, Redeyes, JuJu, and L Double to name but a few.

After several very successful releases in 2006 including "Jah No Dead" and "Wicked Ways", the Bachelors busted ass on their debut LP "Science Fiction," which was released on Horizons Music on January, 2008, and included the smash hits "Song For Lovers", "Strings Track", "People Together" and "The Ice Dance". The album was Number One nine weeks in a row on the DnB Arena Download chart, and continues to smash up the world with its lush, heartfelt production.

Not much could improve upon the Bachelors' current sound, except for maybe an extremely rare appearance by the Queen of US MC's, the mighty mighty AUDIO ANGEL.

There was once a time in San Francisco--first at Eklektik, and then at Compression--when you could enjoy the funktastic vocal stylings of the ANGEL every week. But those days are no more, so roll out this Thursday and remind yourself why you came to enjoy SFDNB so much in the first place. The lady rocks it!!

Especially when she's supported by MC Ax!om!

Ladies love him, girls adore him, even the ones he's never met before. He's MC Ax!om, Compression friend and badass MC. Put him together with Audio Angel and you got yourself a well-oiled MC machine, perfectly smooth and funky, the optimum counterpart to the sounds of the SCIENCE.

Also on the night, Groundscore legend, DJ FIFE!

FIFE is a man of many funky rollers, so expect the club to be buzzing before the Science this Thursday with his polished brand of diversity. We haven't seen FIFE in minute, so Compression is excited for him to be back in the house!

When he ain't romancing the ladies, he's romancing the decks, dropping the smooth sort of COMPRESSION funk that's perfect for a night of Science! Get out early and catch the man in action as he rips another solid, SHARP set!

As always, support from COMPRESSION CREW, and LOVE from the HONEY BEAR.
Free before 10; $5 thereafter; drink specials all night!

Second room by TEMPLE UNDERGROUND, featuring electro, house, and other dirrrrty business.

Summer of Madness: DJ Aries AND Danny the Wildchild.

OOOF!! After the ruckus in the basement last week, you were probably hoping for a reprive, maybe a little easy listening and warm tea with which you could soothe your aching mojo. But sorry, Compression Headz, this is the SUMMER OF MADNESS, and it's time to get it on proper, COMPRESSION STYLE.

So say hello to my lil' fren, DANNY THE WILDCHILD

From the dawn of the Junglistic States, DANNY THE WILDCHILD has been there--a DJ above all others, able to take your record bag and make it rock like you never imagined. Armed with tricks and techniques that drum and bass DJ's just aren't supposed to have, Danny attacks the decks, busting out rapid-fire mixes that result in a set that's more than the sum of its parts. He never fails to leave Compression in ruins, so this Thursday night, come down, join in the fray, and RECOGNIZE: DANNY THE WILDCHILD, y'all, is the motherfucking SHIT.

But because this is the SUMMER OF MADNESS, we ain't stopping there. Spark the trees, grab your visine, and get ready to skank to the unmistakable sounds of DJ ARIES.

Representing Digital Soundboy and Co-Lab Recordings (among others), Aries specializes in dubwise drum and bass, keeping it roots-based but always fresh as a Humbolt harvest. Hailing from Birmingham, UK, "the Goat" has been remixed by Visionary and TC, applauded by Shy FX, and featured on BBC 1XTRA. Smoke em if you got em, gang (and we know you do), it's time to fucking SWING and SWAY to the sounds of Aries.

Getting everything all toasty for the evening are your opening DJ's, TWO CENTS, with help from the esteemed COLONEL MC

It's the COMPRESSION WRECKING CREW, and you know these fools never played an "opening set" in their lives. Get drunk at home, get there early, and get ready to RUUMMMMMBLE!!

Compression pics by the always fantastic LA LOCA. Smile for her, we want YOU on HERE. And just in case you weren't paying attention to current events, the SUMMER OF MADNESS has started off like this like THIS:

Only $5 all night long! Topless ladies free! HONEY BEAR LOVES YOU.
